According to the data of the Seventh National Census, Jingzhou had a permanent population of 5.23118 million, accounting for 9.06 percent of Hubei's total. Among Jingzhou's permanent population, 50.94 percent were males and 49.06 percent were females (gender ratio: 103.82). In terms of age constitution, the population aged 14 and younger, the population aged between 15 and 59, the population aged 60 and above, and the population aged 65 and above accounted for 15.19 percent, 61.12 percent, 23.69 percent and 16.56 percent respectively. The number of persons with university education in Jingzhou was 10,225 persons per 100,000 persons.
